Intro
The Friends of the Iroquois River patrol for log jambs and trash that collects and can inhibit the natural flow of the Iroquois River. These log jambs and trash that build up are usually the product of man made bridges and/or the poor practices of mankind. Flooding and congestion along the Iroquois River can present hazards for both humans and wildlife. Our mission is to do our best to allow nature and man to live together in the least restrictive and most environmentally friendly way possible. We complete this mission through the removal of trash and the management of log jambs in the Newton and Jasper County areas of the Iroquois River in Indiana. The members of the Friends of the Iroquois River, Inc. are nature enthusiasts who enjoy canoeing, fishing and being able to traverse the Iroquois River while still leaving it in as natural a form as possible. We do our best to keep the river clear of obstructions, while still leaving as much of the natural habitat as we can. The natural habitat and it's health are vital to the fish and wildlife in the area and their survival. We understand that and do our best to preserve the ecosystem as nature intended, while minimizing the risk to humans through strategic management of areas of congestion along the Iroquois River.
